Hello Sunday and first advent! I love to light the first candle, it puts me in a such a Christmas mood. Here in France they don’t do this and each year I make our own “Adventsljusstake” candle holder to keep up the Swedish tradition and make the same childhood memories for our kids as I have of mine. This year Viggo wanted to help me make one so we decided to make a really classic one.
So Viggo and I went to the nearest hobby store, found a tray in raw wood, wood stain in dark oak and some white moss. Back home again we started with the fun part of making the candle “holders”, we just hammered some nails on to the back of the tray and stuck it trough the candles. Viggo was so happy to use the hammer!
It was not stable enough though so I added some candle-grease in the bottom (oh so ugly) and it made it work.
Some wood stain later we added the white moss (never leave it without surveillance!), mushrooms and one new decoration and one old. The old one is a snowman we had at home when I was a kid, I even think it’s older than me, isn’t he cute? :)

Coucou dimanche et premier avent ! J’adore d’allumer la premiere bougie dans notre bougeoir d’avent, ça me met tellement dans le mood de noël. Ici en France vous n’avez pas cette tradition alors je le fabrique moi-même. Pour tenir la tradition mais aussi créer les même souvenirs d’enfance que j’ai du mien.
Cette année Viggo voulait m’aider et on a décidé d’en faire un vraiment classique suédois. On est allé dans le magasin de hobby et on a trouvé un plateau en bois brut, lasure couleur chêne foncé et de la mousse blanche. Au retour à la maison on a commencé ce que Viggo trouvait été le plus fun, marteler des clous sur l’arrière du plateau et puis attacher les bougies dans ces clous. J’ai rajouté un peu de cire en bas de chaque bougie quand même car je trouvais que ça tenait pas assez bien. Ensuite on a juste rajouté la mousse blanche, un nouveau lutin et un très ancien bonhomme de neige. Je pense qu’il est plus vieux que moi en faite, on l’avait chez mes parents quand j’étais toute petite…
